Coronary Heart Disease (CHD)
Coronary disease is otherwise called as coronary artery disease. It is a disease in which the plaque builds inside the coronary artery. Plaque is a substance which occurs due to the combination of cholesterol, calcium and other substances found in the blood. An artery supplies oxygen rich blood to the heart and other organs of the body. The plaque will affect your artery by narrowing it and it eventually blocks the flow of blood to the heart, lungs and the other major parts. It is one of the leading causes for death in the United States and if the symptoms are noticed in the early stage this can be cured. Some of them do not have any symptoms and this will result in severe heart disease. One of the symptoms of this kind of disease is heart attack. It is the end result of accumulation of athermatous plaque. A person can have chance of developing athermatous plaque in the spectrums at any stage and result in coronary heart disease.
This is the major reason for the death of men and women under the age of 20 and it also leads to sudden deaths for many people. As per the Guinness book result most of the people of Northern Ireland are affected by coronary heart disease. According to estimation about half of the men under the age of 40 and one-third of the women under the same age of United States are affected by this kind of disease. An individual person affected by CHD may suffer from one or more heart attack, and a sign of chronic coronary is ischemia heart disease and spark of pulmonary edema. The word ischemia refers to the insufficient amount of blood send to the tissues which needs enough blood. A heart attack caused by coronary disease will lead to sudden death if the treatment is not given at the right time.
If a person is suffering from CHD for long term then it will result in weak heart muscles and lead to heart failure, arrhythmias etc. There are many reasons for increase of CHD. Genes are one of the reasons for CHD. More than 15 million people have some form of this disease. Some of the risk factors that cause CHD are high blood pressure, diabetes, bad cholesterol such as low density lipoproteins LDL, good cholesterol such as high density lipoproteins HDL, menopause, obesity and smoking. The increased level of chemical reaction such as homocysteine, amino acid etc are some of the reasons for coronary heart disease. The other names for coronary disease are arteriosclerosis heart disease, CAD and CHD. The signs for CHD are one or more heart attack, discomfort at the center of chest or chest pain and shortness of breath etc.
