Slow breathing can lower blood pressure by up to 30 over 10 or more in 15 minutes. See the website in the resource box below for details.
It also includes an online demo and free instructions. Lasting reductions in blood pressure require regular use for 15 minutes a day but most people get big drops in just a single session.

"Instant" and medical problems don't go together.

Get your friend to the ER as soon as possible, preferably by ambulance (parametics can administer drugs under doctor's orders even before getting to the ER).

I'd hate to have you post tomorrow that she had a heart attack or stroke tonight.

THERE ARE A LOT OF REMEDIES FOR HYPERTENSION, BUT FIRST IT IS NECESSARY TO FIND OUT THE CAUSE. THERE ARE A NUMBER OF FACTORS AFFECTING BLOOD PRESSURE. IF IT IS JUST FOR ONE DAY, THEN IT MAY BE DUE TO SEVERE STRESS OR TENSIONS, BUT IF THE PATIENT HAS A HISTORY OF HYPERTENSION, THEN MEDICAL ADVICE IS THE BEST.

Home Remedies for High blood Pressure

#Powder 100 gm melon seeds and 100 gm poppy seeds (khus-khus). Mix and store in a clean container. Consume 1 tsp with water morning and evening.
#A clove of garlic is highly recommended for high blood pressure. Chew one clove of garlic first thing every morning and wash it down with water. The garlic can also be coarsely pound and swallowed with water.
#Make a juice of 25-30 curry leaves with 1 cup of water. Strain and drink first thing in the morning. Limejuice can be added for taste.
#In the same manner coriander or fenugreek leaves can be tried they won't harm in any way and at the same time one can find out what is best suited to their system.
#Mix 1 tsp honey with 1 tsp ginger juice and 1 tsp cumin powder. Have twice a day.
# Add one teaspoon of cayenne pepper in half a cup Luke warm water and stir.
Drink when required.
# Prepare a mixture by adding 1/2 onion juice and 1/2 honey. Take 2 tbls once a day for 1-2 weeks.
# Eat 1 Papaya on an empty stomach daily for a month. Do not eat anything after for about 2 hours.
# Intake of potassium also helps to maintain the blood pressure.
# Some parts of the Laminaria and similar seaweeds are used as a blood-pressure-lowering drug in a preparation called Kombu.
# Lemon balm (Melissa officinalis) has a tonic effect on the heart and circulatory system. Drink the tea daily, or use lemon balm vinegar on salads.
# Take nutmeg or saraswat powder in warm milk.
# Take equal parts of Ashwagandha, Valerian, and Gotu kola. Mix well and take 1-3 grams of the powdered herbs with warm water or with ghee.
# Being physically active is one of the most important steps to prevent or control high blood pressure.
# Reduce salt intake, smoking, alcohol intake and avoid fried foods.
# Increase the intake of fruits and green vegetables in the diet.
# Reduce stress.
# Those who are over weight should try hard to reduce weight. Weight reduction can be achieved through regulation of diet, reasonable and non-tiring exercise.
# Morning walk is also very helpful in reducing the blood pressure.

Homeopathy

1. Thyroidinum: 12X This is prepared from thyroid gland and is used in a variety of hypertension cases.

2. Nux vomica: 6X Use for intermittent arterial hypertension.

3. Crataegus: This is a nutritional cardiac helper. Use five drops of the mother tincture.

Herbal Medicine

#Lime blossom (Tilia europea): For treating hypertension associated with arteriosclerosis and anxiety, take an infusion. Pour one cup of boiling water onto one teaspoonful of the dried flowers; leave to infuse ten minutes, filter, and drink.
#Hawthorn (Crataegus, various species). Hawthorn has been used as a heart tonic for centuries.
#Make a tea by adding one teaspoon of dried hawthorn herb to cup of boiling water. Drink up to two cups a day.
#Kudzu (Pueraria lobata). Chinese studies suggest that kudzu helps normalize blood pressure. When a tea containing about eight teaspoons of kudzu root was given daily to 52 people for two to eight weeks, 17 people experienced marked decline in their blood pressure. Kudzu is a powerful antioxidant. It has 100 times the antioxidant activity of vitamin E. Hence it also helps prevent heart disease and cancer.
#Garlic (Allium sativum). Garlic is a wonder drug for heart. It has beneficial effects in all cardiovascular system including blood pressure. In clinical studies, garlic has been shown to decrease the systolic pressure by 20-30 mm Hg and the diastolic by 10-20 mm Hg. When people with high blood pressure were given one clove of garlic a day for 12 weeks, their diastolic blood pressure and cholesterol levels were significantly reduced. Eating quantities as small as one clove of garlic a day was found to have beneficial effects in managing hypertension.
#The pharmaceutical mechanism of garlic's effect on blood pressure is believed to be related to its effect on the autonomic nervous system, lipid-lowering properties and perhaps its high content of sulphur-containing compounds. Patients with high blood pressure were found to have decreased levels of sulphur-containing amino acids in their plasma.
#Use garlic in your cooking, salad, soup, pickles, etc. It is very versatile.
#Saffron (Crocus sativus). Saffron contains a chemical called crocetin that lowers the blood pressure. You can use saffron in your cooking. (It is a very popular spice in Arabic cooking.) You can also make a tea with it. Many Indians add a pinch of saffron in the brewed tea to give a heavenly flavor. Unfortunately, it is very expensive.
#Valerian (Valeriana officinalis). Valerian is good for hypertension. It contains a chemical called valerenic acid that inhibits an enzyme that breaks down GABA. GABA (Gamma-amino butyric acid) is known to control blood pressure. Its effect on blood pressure may also be from its sedative action.
#Mistletoe (Viscum album): Mistletoe is believed to function as a regulator of blood pressure, exerting a healing effect in both hypertension and hypotension. In Europe, mistletoe has often been combined with hawthorn (crataegus) in treating hypertension.

Elevated blood pressure may be a temporary thing, brought on by stress. The best things to do about it:
1. Take 1 aspirin and a glass of cold water, it you are not allergic to aspirin.
2. Lie down, take 10 deep breaths, smile, and tell yourself that you wil be ok.
3. Eliminate the cause of stress. Get a new boy friend (or girl friend)
4. You MUST eliminate the cause of stress.
5. Monitor your blood pressure regularly.
IF YOU HAVE CHEST PAIN, BLOOD PRESSURE LOWEST NUMBER 100 OR ABOVE, OR PAIN IN YOUR LEFT ARM OR ABDOMEN AND ARE USUALLY A LOW-BLOOD PRESSURE PERSON, CALL YOUR DR. HE WILL ADVISE. HE WILL PROBABLY TELL YOU TO GO TO E.R. BUT LET HIM TELL YOU OR IT WILL COST A BUNDLE.

A good doctor should really be the one to give advice to your friend. Garlic may help if your friend has no reactions to it. Studies have shown it can lower blood pressure. Ask around for good over-the-shelf-products or use the unprocessed stuff.

how high is high? because there is a point at which the ER is your best bet. Also knowing the age and medical problems of your friends would be helpful. If there is any other heart history (heart attacks, strokes, etc...) then go now
get away from stress and salt (that means salt in everything- look at the sodium count in everything)
any pain in the back/shoulders/head/chest/belly = ER. any shortness of breath = ER. decrease in peeing = ER. vision changes = ER. you get the idea?
