Is there a natural way to lower blood pressure, without taking prescription drugs?

lower blood pressure
kimmy asked:

I have been diagnosed with high blood pressure. My doctor prescribed toprol xl 25mg and lisinopril 10mg. The side effects have been awful. She said I have to give my body time to get use to the meds. Well I feel worse than I did before I went to the dr. I have been monitoring my bp and it has dropped as low as 109/58. I can’t stand up or walk when it gets that low. Any advice?

You should discontinue those meds if they are causing your bp to drop too low. Garlic and fishoil supplements are supposed to have positive effects on the blood pressure, as well as a low salt/fat diet and regular exercise. Good luck!

My wife had high blood pressure and she had the same experience you are having, so she quit taking the meds… and she DIED just a bit over 9 years ago.

Eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables and get more exercise. It’s the best alternative to drugs.

I seriously wish Bruce P would knock off the long advertisements in these posts. It’s so predatory to advertise to people who are asking genuine health questions.

Meditation, exercise, diet, and yoga will help your high BP. But you should tell the doctor that you are having these symptoms, and adjust your meds when your BP has improved or if your doctor says it’s OK.

You could try calcium if you are low on that…it can sometimes lower blood pressure. You could try eating rice…it is supposed to absorb salt in the gut and lower blood pressure. You could make sure that your cholesterol levels are under control (thick blood is harder to move). Give up cigarettes or alcohol if you do either of those. Exercise. But meanwhile you do need to make sure it stays low enough to avoid having a stroke or heart attack…monitoring it with a BP cuff is essential. And now that you already have high blood pressure, it would be tricky to play around with it…

Hawthorn Berry. You can buy it in supplement form or as a tea. Supplement form would be stronger and work quicker. Fish oils are also another good one. Buy one with higher epa/dha levels.
Go see a naturopath. They can disect youre eating habits/lifestyle and devise a programme that works for you. Worth the investment.
    Good luck!

If your MD cannot give you an alternative to drugs, find a Naturopathic doctor or Chiropractor. Both of those disciplines are well trained on nutrition and will be able help you out.

The general guidelines of losing fat, eating more fruits and vegetables and exercise are a great place to start. If you smoke, quit, and if you drink alcohol, drink less.

Many people find it hard to eat enough fruits and vegetables every day. The whole food concentrate, Juice Plus is “The Next Best Thing to Fruits and Vegetables”. It is simple, easy and affordable and there is good science to show that it works.

The best way to lower blood pressure without drugs is excercise and drinking water. It doesent have to be alot of excercise, nor do you need to drink 8 glasses of water. But it is best to do both very often every hour or two. Put more simply here are the common lifestyle changes you can make to lower high blood pressure.

+Don’t smoke cigarettes or use any tobacco product.

    +Lose weight if you’re overweight.

    +Exercise regularly.

+Eat a healthy diet that includes lots of fruits and vegetables and is low in fat.

+Limit your sodium, alcohol and caffeine intake.

+Try relaxation techniques or biofeedback. For a stressful lifestyle may lead to high blood pressure.

(PS: Personally I would suggest positive and enjoyable pastimes to strengthen your mental health. Sports, waking the dog, and reading are typical ways. However hobbies or moral intrest such as community outreach programs, setting time aside with a friend or family member, slipping into a church to see whats there, dancing, or even taking a day trip to get some fresh air in a different atmosphere.

My mom didn’t want to take their drugs, so she altered her eating by adding oatmeal (#1 change, it does work), using only sea salt, drinking healthier drinks and seriously cut back on sugar intake (not by adding artificial sweeteners either). She also added walking to her weekly routine, several times a day. She went back and had it checked, and she was no longer a candidate for meds! Proud of her at 68 years young and no drugs!!

A friend went the same route, but mostly focussed on the oatmeal daily and walking. She also lowered her blood pressure naturally. She is diabetic, and didn’t want to add another med. Worked well for her.

    Best health to you .

put all in a big-mouthed glass bottle then pour in apple cider vinegar up to 1 inch above the ingredients. cover the bottle (use plastic cap please). shake 2 or 3 times a day. after 2 weeks, strain the liquid and put in a glass bottle. take 1 to 2 tablespoons of the liquid 2 to 3 times a day after a meal. don’t drink in an empty stomach. of course, you must also avoid foods that causes high blood pressure like red meat, shrimps, pork, shellfish, squid, crabs…. have a normal bp in 2 weeks time. cheers…

I’m going thru the same thing. What ever you do DO NOT stop taking the drugs until you find something else. Everything goes OK for a few days, a week, then all of a sudden the BP goes thru the roof. These things hurt you if you take them and kill you if you stop. My first dr gave me more and more pills, one on top of another. One of them kept me home for four days; my legs felt like wood, and I couldn’t go anywhere. Then he tells me the cure for the pill was Gatorade. After I fired him, the next one just took one pill at ramdom, and so far so good. ExForge. No bad effects so far.
